개요
Functional optical imaging is a new imaging technique developed recently and can with minimal
or no invasion obtain activated brain images arising from the hemodynamic response. The state
of the art in brain science research and optical imaging of brain signal is reviewed. In addition
R&D results and patents on optical imaging and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)
related to the brain-activated hemodynamic response and obtained in major countries, including
the United States, the European Union, Japan and Korea, are presented, and the technological
levels of brain science research and optical imaging are evaluated. Finally, the future outlook for
progress in brain science and optical imaging is provided. In this paper, the principles of optical
imaging of an intrinsic signal and a voltage-sensitive dye (VSD), 3D optical imaging of blood volume and oxygenation in the neonatal brain, and fNIRS, as well as their applications in brain science, are presented.
